Linux Guide for Downgrading to 2.2074
You must own Geometry Dash on
Steam for this guide to work.
It is recommended to save your account data to the cloud before proceeding with this guide.
Click here to download DepotDownloader, which is the tool we are going to use to download 2.2074 from Steam. If you have a 64 bit processor, the one you should choose is linux-x64. If you have an ARM-based 64 bit processor, choose linux-arm64. If you have an ARM-based 32 bit processor, choose linux-arm.
Extract the ZIP file to get the DepotDownloader executable.
Paste the following command into the terminal in the path where DepotDownloader is downloaded (make sure to cd into it) and press Enter:
[USERNAME] argument and Steam password in place [PASSWORD]. DepotDownloader is open source and is considered safe, and it only sends your login information to Steam itself to pull the game from Steam. Add -remember-password at the end if you want DepotDownloader to remember your Steam account's password in the future.
If you want to login with Steam Guard QR instead:
Wait for DepotDownloader to finish downloading the depot.
Go to the folder DepotDownloader created (322170), then the folder inside of it.
Copy everything inside of this folder.
Go to the Geometry Dash installation directory by going to your Steam library, right clicking on Geometry Dash, clicking on Manage, then clicking on Browse local files.
Paste the files you copied from your depot and replace all existing files if prompted.
To prevent Steam from automatically updating Geometry Dash, do the previous step to open the Geometry Dash folder, exit 2 folders (Geometry Dash, then common), and make sure you're in the steamapps folder. In the steamapps folder, you should see a file named appmanifest_322170.acf. We need to make that file read only. To do that via the terminal, open the terminal inside of the steamapps folder, then type this:
You can now launch Geometry Dash through Steam and optionally install Geode v4.10.2 from the Geode website.
If Geometry Dash receives a new update, you will need to launch it through GeometryDash.exe in
the game's folder, or run chmod 644 appmanifest_322170.acf (check the previous steps to find the steamapps folder which is where this file is stored) to temporarily make the file writeable to
update Geometry Dash, then follow this guide to downgrade it again.
